Most times your dentist will use a dental dam to keep the bleach concentrated on the teeth so it does not hit the gums. If you do experience any pain or discomfort, many times the dentist will shorten the treatment time. You’ll have multiple treatments, but that will be shorter so you experience less discomfort.
The majority of the peroxide based whiteners that the dentist uses in office are similar to that which you can get over the counter. With the expense of dental visits many people look for a cheap teeth whitening alternative. The products that are available over the counter should let you know if sensitivity may be an issue.
